Member Spotlight 2024

Congratulations, Mary Moore, her picture of the Northern Parula is on the back cover of the Rectix Newsletter, 2024 summer issue. The Rectrix is a seasonal newsletter of the Missouri River Bird Observatory.

Mary Moore’s love of photographing the elk and moose in Colorado, landed her photograph in the Estes Park Newspaper in Colorado. Mary is very talented and really brings home some wonderful images to share.

Lucas is a storm chaser, that has been a member of the club for several years now. He has shown some really amazing photographs. The knowledge you need to have to be able to go into storm like this and be able to allow us to see these images, is just amazing. He is truly an talented photographer.

Congratulations to Karen Mathis

Several months ago I submitted a photo to Family RVing magazine. It was selected and included in the January, 2024, issue. The photo of the Ravenel Bridge was taken during a May, 2022, trip to Charleston, South Carolina. I had my tripod set up to take twilight shots when I noticed as the sun neared the horizon line that if I moved about a 100 feet to the left I could possibly capture the sun as it set between the legs of the bridge. I grabbed my camera off the tripod and ran (actually hobbled, as I had broken my toe just a couple days prior) to that spot just in time to get the shot. The original aspect ratio of the photo was 3:2 but was cropped to square by the magazine.
